[Short Story - Frustration]
She's gone...
"I know that."
She's gone... why is she gone...
"I know that-- you know I can hear you moping, right?"
Kou wasn't in much of a mood to hear Black-Winged Dragon getting depressed about Desdemona-- about the Black Rose Dragon. He felt bad enough between what had happened, Isabel basically threatening him for what he assumes is because he "delayed" her and "stopped" her from helping, and not being able to do anything about it. He didn't need the constant reminder of what happened repeating in the back of his head, intermixed with his other thoughts.
Thoughts about how much he really didn't like Marias. How much she acted like her time and her concerns were more valuable than anyone else's-- already how she wanted to just toss Yuya out of the area like that'd keep him safe, just so she could go get revenge. He knew though, he knows she's upset. So she's going to lash out. She's going to focus on the one who caused it. He was willing to handle it if it meant getting back on track, but...
Now, he just didn't want to deal with her or her anger. He didn't want to care-- if she blamed him for delaying her, he already knows she'd have been dealing with way more trouble anyway, since she was the former champion. Anyone would've wanted a shot at her and wouldn't have cared about her urgency. Heck, if he hadn't come across her, she'd probably still think she was on another world before she realized what was going on.
And for stopping her from joining in that duel... It was clear that she would've been at a disadvantage no matter what. Maybe she wouldn't have wanted to admit that. But the Black Rose Dragon knew that too well that her jumping in wouldn't have helped anyone. Of course, none of them knew just how bad it was going to get... and whatever happened to her in the end, being turned into... a card?
He didn't get it. Just who were these Academia people? Did she know who they were? And why? Just what was going on?
... And why does he keep feeling guilty? Marias was truly just single-handedly proof of why he didn't want to cooperate with any of the Signers in the first place. She acted like the one who was in charge, the one who was right, and had the sole right to be upset when things happened. He hated it. He hated her and how she acted. He was kicking himself for ever feeling bad about his power copying Black Rose Dragon's card, or even buying into the idea that she would've wanted to settle this reasonably. And she didn't even know who he was; she had already decided that he was a problem anyway.
He should just accept it'll never work, even if he ever wanted to try.
You know... I can hear you moping, too...
Kou let out a low groaning sound as he kept moving, having cleared the Glacial Zone and was now moving into the forest depths. "Oh, shut up and go back to grieving."
"I know that."
