*So, as you may know, Kou has been working at DA now. This isn't too much of a secret, though he hasn't really given a reason for why he's doing this.

Well, you may find him acting upon one of these reasons, later in the night on the island or in the city [You Choose Which]-- perhaps you're someone who just doesn't follow the rules of curfew or you're late coming from things you had to do, but you'll find some guy following another, certain creepy shut-in dude.

If he's in the city, he's in his dumb incognito outfit, but if he's on the island, he isn't bothering with it. Stands out too much in that situation.*

"Sorry kid. I got caught up in a good chase."

He's surprisingly quiet for something so big.

"Ya think he's maybe setting a trap up or something there? Ya can just nod if you wanna be a little chuuni."

Right, someone else mentioned thinking that too.

I don't think he's a vampire though.

But he does just nod. He doesn't feel like talking in his normal dialect right now.*

"Since I may have played your hand on this kid, I'll help."

He moves stealthily towards the shrine, keeping very close to the shadows.

*... he just... keeps trying to tail Tarou.

Who meanwhile has been circling the main shrine building, checking for... something. You can't tell what he's checking for at all. But something feels off.*

"Then I spent ten minutes making this crossbow outta paper clips and rubber bands for nothing.

... Still don't think he breathes though."

He watches, face turning into a grimace. What the hell is this guy doing? He keeps opposite of you, so he can't get us both. He HAS to know we're here by now, right?

*Noticing Kou's movement, she looks up at him, realising that he's spotted her. She glares at him for a moment.

She figures, right now, that it's no big deal he's spotted her. She felt that he won't risk moving away and being spotted by the guy he's keeping an eye on, since his main focus is on him. She looks away and back towards the guy on the ground, making no movement, showing that, for now, she won't be interfering.

She's much more interested to see exactly what is going on.*

He adjusts his position to try to see what Tarou is scratching into the ground-- his one benefit is that his get-up definitely helps him blend into the darkness that's around.*

*Tarou meanwhile, seems to "finish" what it is he was doing, and suddenly stands up straight, cricking his neck a little.

He turns to leave the alleyway, counting the steps it takes to reach the end, scratching a line to there with a small pocket knife, and does the same after turning around and going through the other end. He nods, as though satisfied, before pocketing his tool.

He starts to leave the alleyway, humming again.*

*it'd probably make this easier if he just called you out, huh.

Instead, he's marking something on the ground around the shrine as he goes, entirely focused on his task-- whatever it is that it may be.

... ... hey, isn't this the shrine where all those tourists vanished at, around New Years?*

Because if he doesn't, that's going to make me wonder what he's doing, staying down there in the water.

"Avoiding us? He might know he was being stalked.

... or weird rituals. Does he disappear into the same spots?"

He's going to try to get the chuuni's attention. In a 'we need to get the hell out of here' or 'we bum rush him before he finishes' sort of way.

He decides though at the least-- he knows where Tarou is marking things, so he'll be able to double back and check the area once he leaves. So he'll nod, moving back.*

Usually. The idea of him doing rituals or spell-casting isn't out there, honestly.

*Kou ducks down behind the trees, grabbing you from the back, Renat, to have you follow suit.

Tarou's surfaced from beneath the water, completely soaked. He takes a moment to shake his hair out like a dog.*

Who else runs around in this ridiculous cloaked get up this late? Us normal weirdos just wear dark clothing.

He follows after and once they're a good distance away:

"... so, uh. He may... be the reason people are disappearing? ... please just talk, if I recognize ya, it ain't really my business why you're wandering around in this get-up."

She ducks with you, about to have said something but thinking much better of it now, completely focused on this weirdo. Was he just... sitting there? Underwater?

... she also stares long enough to see if he takes in any air as he surfaces, because he's probably still a vampire.

*well, he's letting out a sighing sound, so that's... close...??

He looks around though, since he was about to take off his actual shirt to wring it out... but he decides to just grab his glasses and get them on, before gathering up his clothes.

... he might know someone's around.*

... you can hear him making a sound underneath his face-mask. ugh, he doesn't want to risk YOU recognizing him, but at least you're definitely not a Signer...*

... there's a 90% chance that he is.

*you definitely recognize that voice, because you've taught him before.*

Yubel watches him leave, then quietly moves to see if she can make out anything of whatever this guy had scratched into the ground.*

She's just gonna be completely still and silent and follow Kou's lead. Something tells her she DOESN'T want to get caught by him right now.

He raises an eyebrow, but isn't going to press it. Everyone's got their reasons.

"Those're good betting odds. Holy shit. I don't want to get caught up in whatever he's doing right now, but...

What're ya gonna do about it kid?"

It definitely looks like random scratchings-- lines and circles, but there seems to be a pattern to it all...*
